Pairing wine with food: Chicken and Mushroom Pie Reading 5 easy food & wine pairings 4 minutes

We've paired up with Bistro Chef to make pairing wine and food as simple as it could possibly be. We want to show you that good food pairings don't need to be complex and eat up your whole evening prepping.

Bistro Chef create fine food with a french flair, all that are pre made so all the hard work has been lifted off your shoulders. Add a perfectly portioned can into the mix and you have dinner sorted.

Grüner VeltlinerSea Bass with Ratatouille

If you love fish dishes but don't want to cook or prepare it then this indulgent frozen meal is perfect! Made from the finest ingredients this pairs well with a spicy green style Grüner Veltliner with it's red apple character and nice intensity with the fruit but the high acidity will bite through the dish.

Sustainably sourced sea bass fillet, perfectly pan-seared, rests atop a vibrant Provencal ratatouille crafted from slow-cooked courgette, aubergine, peppers and ripe tomatoes.  This classic vegetable stew is infused with fragrant herbs and the dish is finished with a swirl of basil and garlic butter that melts on cooking.

Serve with our Pommes Sarladaises, a French style saute potatoes and you have a very sophisticated fish and chips!

Viognier & Seafood Linguine

A sumptuous dish of linguine pasta tossed with scallops, marinated salmon, chili, chives, coriander, and a crab, Cognac and lemon sauce. A subtle kick of chili complements fresh chives and aromatic coriander, enlivening the palate.  This is chef food at home at its finest,  a perfect meal kit - without the cooking!  for a celebration dinner, date night or dinner party. Simply  heat and serve.

Our Viognier is matured at the winery and a great example for those who tend to reach for a Chardonnay. Matured at the winery, this Viognier has a lovely fruit profile matched with floral aromas that once paired with the acidity, it can bit through the tasting notes of the linguine.

Grenache Rosé & Leek and Pea Risotto

An Italian favourite loved by the French. Ideal as a lunch, dinner or side.  A very moreish leek, pea and parmesan risotto combined with the indulgent flavours and golden vibrancy of saffron. Enjoy the convenience and quality of chef made food from your freezer to your plate in minutes.

This rosé pairing is fresh and offers more than your Provence rosé with it's grapefruit notes. It is an under appreciated wine with how well it goes with food, with it's texture, and bitter sweetness which is why it goes well with risotto.

St Laurent & Coq au Vin

Experience the essence of France with our classic Coq au Vin. It features succulent chicken slowly braised in a rich red wine reduction, accented by smoky pancetta, fresh vegetables, and fragrant herbs. It offers the ease and elegance of an authentic, restaurant-quality dish in the comfort of home.  And this dish has been awarded a Gold Award by Taste of the West 2025.

St Laurent is a lovely red wine pairing and with it's rich character helps balance the dish but not overpower it. The freshness of the wine with it's red fruit and oak helps to complement.

Old Vine Garnacha & Lamb Shank

A chef-cooked finer dining dinner dish with the ease and convenience of heat and serve and home delivery.  Perfect for a weekend dinner, or serving to friends and family.

Our French chefs slow-cook the lamb for seven hours to achieve a succulent, melt-in-your-mouth texture. The meat is then bathed in a rich sauce of red wine, redcurrant and aromates. Just perfect served with Bistro Chef Garlic Mash or Bistro Chef Dauphinois Potato.

Pair this with a bold red like Old Vine Garnacha with its high alcohol and bold fruit makes it have lots of potential with more hearty dishes.
