Old Vine Garnacha 2020 | The National Gallery Edition

No. 5 Smooth & Silky
A beautifully balanced Garnacha from selected old vines in Aragon, Spain

Meet our vintage Old Vine Garnacha. Aromas of chocolate-coated cherries and cassis with some vanilla spice lead you into a warming palate with a good tang of racy acidity. Fruit is all black cherry and bright strawberry. Tannins are smooth with a lovely touch of cherry stone and almond on the finish. This red is made from grapes grown on old vines at altitude in the Aragon region of Spain. They are hand-harvested, gently pressed, and matured in oak for 12 months, developing into a wine that is truly special.

Our Old Vine Garnacha pairs well with steak, but even better with pork belly or lamb chops. It will stand-up to heartier dishes like cassoulet, sausages and mash, or beef and ale pie. Veetarian? Think smoky with grilled veg skewers on the BBQ, smoky bean chilli, or sticky glazed aubergines.

Salud!

We're proud to announce that Canned Wine Co. has collaborated with The National Gallery in London to showcase some of art’s great masterpieces on our wine labels. Part of the proceeds from our National Gallery Editions go towards supporting the gallery, helping to maintain and continue free access to the arts.

This limited edition release of Old Vine Garnacha is bound in Paul Gauguin's (1848-1903) A Vase of Flowers (detail), 1896. The oil on canvas painting is a still life completed by Gauguin during his second and final stay in Tahiti, an island in French Polynesia.
